Wardrop Cup Rules

The Wardrop Cup is played and referred to as 'Top Club' competition

  • Each Club entering the 'Top Club' competition shall field eleven bowlers to play; Two Wood Singles, Four Wood Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours.
  • Any eleven players from the club competing may be selected to comprise the team in all rounds of the competition.
  • The Challenger shall be the first named in the draw.
  • Each of the five games shall score one point for a win and played to a result by playing extra ends if necessary.
  • The Hon. Competition Secretary must be informed of the results by telephone within twenty-four hours. The score cards, showing the names and initials of all players taking part and signed by the losers only must be sent by first class post within the same period.
  • Early rounds to be played in areas as far as possible.
  • The Semi Finals and Finals to be played on greens to be chosen by the Executive Committee
  • In all other regards the Competition shall be played in accordance with the Rules governing County Competitions.
  • If the Challenger is unable to host the match, he may arrange to play on an agreed green.
  • Should a team arrive with one player short, the fours shall play three bowlers and twenty five percent of their score, rounded up, shall be deducted.
  • The Challenger to provide markers for the Singles.
  • Before the start of the Match the Captains shall draw to determine which rinks the games shall be played upon.
  • It is recommended that the Two Wood and Four Wood Singles may be played consecutively on the same rink. Note: Two Wood Singles is played to 21 ends and Four Wood Singles is first to 21 shots.
