The President sent a team to Wellesbourne BC to help celebrate their Centenary. Another hot afternoon saw the President’s men win five out of six rinks with an overall 135-85 scoreline.

Miles Homer (Matrix), Martin Lithgo (Stratford), Dan Hampson (Bidford) and Neil Crowther (Avenue Coventry) found themselves four shots down after five ends but went on an eight end scoring spree that included a five and a four to build a thirteen shot advantage. Wellesbourne scored a single but Crowther and co replied with a brace of fives either side of a single, a last end double for the host club brought the score to 29-8. Chris Knapp (Oakfield), Keith Young (Royal Leamington Spa), Mike Jeffries (Little Compton) and Assistant Secretary Bob Allcock scored a five, a four and a trio of trebles to reach the twelfth end nineteen shots up. The remaining ends were more balanced giving Allcock’s rink a 27-7 win.

Vice President Graham O’Donohue, Neil Weston (Royal Leamington Spa), County Secretary Michael Jackson and Bruce Truman (Rugby Railway) were all square after six ends but took a couple of fours on their way to a thirteenth end four shot lead. Truman and co then scored a single, four and treble but dropped a double and treble to see out the 22-15 victory. Steve Stallard (Welford), Des Workman (Kings Heath), Trevor Bennett (Snitterfield) and Past President Brian Mace Humphries were all square after six ends. The next four ends saw the President’s team score a seven and six on their way to a twelve shot advantage with four ends to go. Wellesbourne won the remaining ends but couldn’t dent Mace Humphries and co their 20-13 win.

Steve Martin (Executive), Phil Brooks (Stratford), Steve Bird (Avenue Coventry) and David Blackmore (Stratford) scored a fourth end seven but were only five shots up after ten ends. A good spell saw the hosts clear the deficit and move three shots up with three ends to go. Blackmore’s rink finished strong with a double, treble and single to win 20-17. Peter Coote (Avon), Past President Don Darby, Graham Farrell (Thornfield) and Dave Harding (Royal Leamington Spa) were six shots down after eleven ends.
