President's Message 2018
It is an honour, a privilege and a great pleasure for me to be elected as your President for 2018.
It is my intention to uphold the high standards and traditions of the Association set by my predecessors. During the last two years I have got to know them all well, namely Graham O’Donohue, Clive Faulkner, and Brian Mace-Humphries. They have all given me their support and the inspiration to carry out this prestigious role. A sincere thank you to the Bournville Bowls Club for their nomination and to those members within the club who have supported me.
I have recently relocated from Birmingham to South Warwickshire and joined Avon Bowls Club, who have given me a warm welcome and promised their support in the year ahead.
There are many people I must acknowledge for my forthcoming year as your President. My Senior Vice President, Geoff Moran and I would welcome anyone coming forward to take on the position of Junior Vice President. I look forward to working with the County Executives, and also with you my fellow colleagues and bowlers of Warwickshire. I would especially like to pay tribute to our Acting Secretary and County Treasurer, Michael Jackson who has taken on the Secretarial responsibilities from Gareth Willcock since his retirement last year. Michael’s hard work and dedication to the County is truly appreciated. I will be giving my full support to the Team Manager, Martyn Murley as he endeavours to achieve a successful year and to the Competition Secretary, Rob Maries as he plans, organises and manages the many competitions.
My Charity this year will be The Shakespeare Hospice which provides exceptional palliative care and support to both patients and their families across South Warwickshire. The children and young people’s service provides support for bereaved children and young carers, as well as a Transitional Care Service with life limiting illness. I hope that you will all help this excellent cause by donating generously throughout the year.
Finally, I cannot finish without special thanks to my wife, Sandra, without whose help and support I could not tackle this most challenging role.
It will be a pleasure visiting the many clubs and meeting Warwickshire bowlers throughout the County.
My very best wishes to you all for good health, good bowling and hopefully good weather for a memorable 2018.
I look forward to seeing you on the green.
